In an average year, over 22 Australians drown in rip currents, while a further 11,000 need rescuing. In fact, 70% of Australians can't accurately identify rips, making them the biggest killer on our beaches.We set out to improve beach safety education using Samsung technology. Partnering with Surf LifeSaving Australia, we developed Pocket Patrol, an app that displays exact positions of live beach dangers using the most advanced and accurate augmented reality possible. The app was downloaded 3600 times in the first 4 weeks and the campaign reached 13.2 million through social posts and online film.
